New York Yankees star Nstor Corts closed his Twitter account after racist writings by the pitcher from previous years came to light, sparking controversy and insults from users of the social network.
Between 2012 and 2013, the pitcher made tweets with racist controversy and several users of the social network remembered it while the Yankees played against the Chicago White Sox last Sunday.
For the years of the tweets, Cortes was between 17 and 18 years old. In them, he used songs with racist overtones as quotes and now many people remember him, so he decided to close his account.

Cortes Jr. used the «N-Word,» considered a fairly strong étnico slur in the United States, albeit in a context where he quoted rap songs where it is used.
«It’s unacceptable,» Cortes told the New York Post before the Yankees’ game against the Orioles on Monday. «I could have handled myself better and said things differently.»
«Those are not the messages I want to send. I deleted my Twitter to clean things up. I hope I can have a better impact in the world for the people who look up to me to set a better example,» Cortes continued in the aforementioned interview.
